We had some AWESOME openings sent into the competition over the weekend… we read, agonised, argued and chatted about who to put on the long list. Even beyond the ones we’ve chosen, so many others could have been on here.
It was particularly pleasing to see so many entries which had been posted on Twitter earlier in the week, then revised and polished with peer feedback, before appearing in a much improved form in the competition entry.
So, whether your opening appears below, or not, take heart if you took the time to seek feedback, and then apply it to your work.
You will all get feedback on your opening and you will receive a discount code for a Writers HQ course. Both will be sent to you on the email you used to send in your entry in the next few days.
So here’s the authors and titles that made the long list. We’ll announce the short list on Wednesday at midday, followed by the winners at a time/day to be announced. We must give time for our lovely judges to decide!
